The Buyback That Became Korea's Fourth Buyer | August 24 2026

One company's buyback is now moving the whole Korean index.
SK Hynix spent 2.22 trillion won on its own shares in two sessions, pushing other corporations from 0.34 percent of daily KOSPI net buying to 3.77 percent and lifting the index even as individuals, foreigners and institutions sold. A separate rule change cut single-stock leverage ETF turnover by 90.6 percent, and 45 of Korea's 1,161 listed ETFs now sit below the delisting threshold. Private equity's exit backlog and a gold mining rally round out the session.
